Is Prevention Cost-Effective?
Determining whether programs are worthwhile on a cost basis is an important issue. Resources are limited in all communities and cost analyses can help determine which programs are the best social investments. All program decisions (including decisions not to offer programs) have advantages (benefits) and disadvantages (costs). Cost analyses compare program benefits and costs systematically in an attempt to gain another perspective on the impact of an intervention.
