Measuring Your Success
One of the most difficult things to do in Developer Relations is prove that the investment is worthwhile. (If it were easy, this book wouldn’t exist.) It’s a pain point that the DevRel teams feel as well—one that’s been mentioned over and over in various interviews and articles as the “hardest part of the job.” After all, DevRel can easily become one of the most expensive departments, with sponsoring events and various community-driven projects, paying for travel to speaking engagements and sending out custom swag to community members. Any board worth its salt is going to want to know where the value is in all this money being spent, and any executive worth their salt will need to have an answer for them.
