The Stereochemical Analysis of Monohydroxyfatty Acids, Particularly 12-Hydroxy-5,8,10,14-Eicosatetraenoic Acid

Abstract
Monohydroxy acids are major lipoxygenase-like metabolites in extracts from the skin of psoriatic patients. An interest in the origin and therefore mechanism of formation of these compounds stimulated investigation of their stereochemistry. Chiral methods using HPLC have been developed for separation and quantification of the hydroxyl enantiomers as well as for their multi-mg preparation.
