Anisotropy of Irreversibility Line in a Superconducting Bi-2223 Tape Wire
Bi-based high temperature superconductors are easily textured by mechanical treatments such as pressing or rolling and are able to transport high current density without being influenced appreciably by weak links. Therefore, these materials are more suitable for long superconducting wires or cables than Y-based superconductors. In fact, superconducting coils or current leads have been successfully produced with silver-sheathed Bi-based wires in trial.
