Laser Stabilization Using Squeezed Light
Chapter
Abstract
Many lasers do not approach ideal operation. They have technical noise—both in intensity and frequency—which exceeds—often far exceeds—the noise predicted by ideal laser theory. Should other considerations nonetheless prompt one to use such a noisy laser, the noise can be controlled by using negative feedback to stabilize the laser’s intensity and/or frequency. Here I investigate the use of squeezed light to enhance the performance of such feedback schemes.
