Abstract
Family practice is distinguished from the other medical specialties by its attention to the individuals in a family rather than to specific organs or diseases. As a consequence of this broader view, family practice has emphasized aspects of human behavior that other specialties have traditionally avoided: the areas of human emotions and feelings.
