Consumer Expectations Demand Client-Focused Technology: So Near, Yet So Far
Abstract
This chapter has been difficult for me to write. Originally, I planned to review the information technology available to the medical community from three distinct areas: (1) early research and development; (2) advanced technical research centers; and (3) technology that is in the early stages of use, but is still funded by research and development dollars. The goal was to excite you about things to come. The chapter looked like a list in prose format and said nothing about how the technology should be adopted into the medical community at large. There was a total absence of technology involving the client at the front end; in fact, the client, in my experience, is seldom the beneficiary. I procrastinated a lot and struggled. Frustrated, I asked what’s missing and went on with another day.
