Family and Societal Influences on Bullying

Abstract

In order to develop more effective interventions to decrease bullying, it is important to look at some of the important correlates of bullying and of victimization, as they are currently understood. Of the various correlates of bullying behaviors including family factors, parenting style, sibling relationships, and more general cultural influences such as television viewing, video games, and the Internet, each may contribute to bullying behaviors.
