Laparoscopic Management of Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Laparoscopic surgery has been employed in the management of renal cell carcinoma since the early 1990s. After the initial report of Clayman et all in 1991, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is emerging as a viable minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of select patients with renal cell carcinoma.2, 3 With increasing experience, nephron-sparing surgery, such as partial nephrectomy, and renal cryoablation have also been incorporated into the laparoscopic armamentarium.
