Traumatic Hematuria

Abstract

Hematuria in patients sustaining blunt or penetrating trauma must be fully evaluated after cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation has been initiated. Hematuria may be gross or microscopic (greater than 5 RBC/HPF) in nature. Differential diagnosis includes renal injury, ureteral injury, bladder rupture or urethral rupture.
