Overview

In the previous topic you discovered the necessity of controlled experiments in scientific investigation and found that randomization plays an important role in the design of experiments. Just as it did with regard to sampling from a population, this random component enables us to draw inferences from the results of experiments. In this topic you will investigate the role of tests of significance in the context of comparing proportions between two experimental groups. You will see that the basic reasoning, structure, and interpretation of these tests are the same as in the case of inference about a single population proportion.
