Fraunhofer Diffraction by Random Irregular Particles
A statistical model is developed for Fraunhofer diffraction by random irregular particles. This is described in terms of a distribution function for radii and a correlation function in the surface. Results are presented for a variety of particle types, and the consequences to particle sizing discussed. Comparison with a “best” sphere suggests a radius based on the average <Rn> where n>3.
