Wernicke’s Psychiatry in Contrast with Kraepelin’s Psychiatry
Soon after the 8th edition of his text book had appeared, Kraepelin’s psychiatry spread throughout the world; Wernicke’s psychiatry was almost completely forgotten. This ignoring of the latter author is probably in part due to the fact that he repeatedly deduced the psychoses from “sejunctions” in the brain and used the rather inappropriate terms of: autopsychoses, somatopsychoses, allopsychoses. For instance, he named the happiness psychosis, which will be mentioned below: “expansive Autopsychose durch autochtone Ideen”.
