On Titanium Alloy Residual Stress Following Thermodiffusion Saturation

Abstract

The diffusion alloying of the surface can be used for increasing the wear resistance of the friction pairs which must be manufactured from titanium alloys to provide for light weight and high corrosion resistance. In particular, the wear resistance of titanium and its alloys can be considerably enhanced by surface saturation with chromium and silicon.
