Summary

This paper discusses the development and application of an off-line programming tool proposed for welding-process procedure simulation and for off-line programming of adaptive robotic arc welding. Currently, WRAPS is a low-cost system being implemented on a modest microcomputer. Research and development is aimed at generating a robot welding program with optimized weld parameter selection and adaptive capabilities and communicated directly to a robot. Weld-data generation for the robot program is retrieved automatically from a database.
