Modulation of λ = 3.39µ Laser Radiation by Excess Carriers in a Gallium Arsenide Diode
The λ = 3.39 µ radiation emitted by an He — Ne laser was amplitude modulated by a GaAs diode placed in the resonator of the gas laser. This was done by passing current pulses through the diode in the forward direction. The modulation coefficient was 10%. The possibility of using a shutter for the Q-factor modulation of a CO2 laser (λ =10.6 µ) was examined.
