Speckle and Sensitivity in Modern Systems

Abstract

In the previous chapter, Dr. Kessler has shown that it is possible to categorize the many types of modern acoustic imaging systems in various ways. One simple way, which we shall use below, is particularly clear cut in terms of ease of categorization. In addition it is especially effective in distinguishing between systems on the basis of the very important behavioral characteristics associated with speckle and sensitivity.
