Radiative Energy Transfer in Scalar Wave Fields

In recent years several attempts have been made [1] to provide a satisfactory basis for the theory of radiative energy transfer in optical fields. The conventional theory [2], on which many investigations in astrophysics and in the field of atmospheric propagation are based, was developed quite independently of modern theories of radiation; consequently its range of validity is not understood at the present time.
