Laser-Induced Autoionization: Inhomogeneous Linewidth and Broad-Band Laser

Abstract

We investigate the effect of inhomogeneous broadening on the shape of the autoionization photo-electron spectrum. The electrons are ejected from an atom after being excited by an intense laser field. The laser-atom interaction is subject to dipole phase diffusion, which may originate in collisions or laser phase instability.
