Abstract

Six years ago, two contributions on Optical Bistability were delivered at the Fourth Rochester Conference on Coherence and Quantum Optica1, which, was apparently the first international meeting to include in its program an invited paper on this subject. Since then, the growth of interest in bistability has been so rapid to justify a second topical conference, following the 1980 meeting in Asheville2.
