Chaos and Optical Bistability: Bifurcation Structure

Abstract

It has been shown theoretically1–6 and experimentally7–9 that the optical bistable system exhibits transitions to chaos under suitable conditions. Among various kinds of theoretically proposed instabilities leading to chaotic behavior1–6, the most universal one is due to the time-delayed feedback of the light from the nonlinear medium1,2,7,8.
