In the direct production of lead from sulfide concentrates by electrolysis in molten salts, particular importance attaches to the wettability of the minerals forming the concentrate, by liquid lead. In the electrolytic reduction of solid particles of mineral at the liquid lead cathode, wettability of one mineral or another ensures electrical contact and consequently cathodic reduction.
