Effects of Gonadal Hormones on Plasma Renin Activity and Aldosterone Excretion Rate
We have reported elsewhere (1) that the administration of ethinyl estradiol increased plasma renin activity (PRA) and aldosterone excretion rate. We were led to make these observations because of the findings of a markedly increased PRA in a normal subject who was taking Orthonovum for contraceptive purposes. Her PRA decreased to normal after the oral contraceptive was discontinued.
