In the previous chapter we have shown how the perturbation of systems with discrete time dynamics may lead the entropy to increase to either a relative or absolute maximum. This behavior may occur even in systems which have no exceptional behavior in the absence of these perturbations, and has been likened to placing the system in contact with a heat bath.
