Abstract

Androgens support the growth and function of all tissues related to erectile function. At any time in life, profound disturbances of the androgen milieu may have a corresponding impact on erections. The minor fluctuations of aging and disease may, in certain individuals, also have effects that necessitate therapy. Yet androgens per se are not a treatment for general erectile disorders. Modern therapy incorporates several different forms of administration and the need for caution especially directed at prostate health and red cell mass.
