Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(Thiooxamide) Metal Complexes
Zinc complexes of sulphur-nitrogen containing ligands are very important from the biological point of view. Zinc is one of the widely coordinated metals in biologically important macromolecules. Synthesis of novel macromolecular complexes of Zn, coordinated via S and/or N should be beneficial for the future research in this field. Among S and N containing ligands, dithiooxamide and its N, N’- substituted products are particularly interesting, since they may act as chelating agents and may form polymeric complexes. In our previous communication1 we had reported Zn (II) complexes of N, N’- bis (carboxymethyl) dithiooxamide. In the present communication we are reporting the synthesis and characterization of Zn (II) complexes of poly (thiooxamides) viz., poly (hexane thiooxamide) [PHTO], poly (butane thiooxamide [PBTO], and Poly (ethane thiooxamide) [PETO].
