Abstract

The outbreak of war in September 1939 in Europe had tremendous repercussions in the Caribbean. Germany’s invasion of Poland and the declaration of war by France and Britain had an immediate impact on the European colonies in the western hemisphere, which further deepened when the German war machine rapidly occupied Western Europe.
