Lily Yeh is an artist whose work is truly focused on rebuilding a community. Since 1986, she has stationed herself in a section of North Philadelphia that is widely regarded as one of the worst inner city areas of the country. With the collaboration of neighborhood residents, she has formed a four-street oasis of art parks, gardens, play spaces, rehabilitated housing, health services, after-school education, theater programs, festivals, and small business enterprises through the nonprofit organization she founded and runs, The Village of Arts and Humanities.
