Abstract

The daughter of Otto and Muriel Snowden, two of Boston’s leading black community organizers of the post—World War II period, Gail Snowden initially wanted nothing to do with activism, becoming a banker instead after her graduation from Radcliffe College in 1968. But, as she says, “I found that the values learned in a socially activist family came to the fore,” and over time she has become a major force for progressive change within the conservative, profit-oriented banking industry.
