Hubbard Model in Infinite Dimensions

Part of the Springer Tracts in Modern Physics book series (STMP, volume 137)

In this chapter we study the Hubbard model in infinite dimensions. The limit d → ∞ is introduced in the first section. For models with localized spins it has been known for a long time that the results of mean-field approximations become exact in infinite dimensions. The intensive study of quantum-mechanical models with itinerant degrees of freedom in infinite dimensions has begun only recently. Hence, we expect further substantial progress in this direction in the future.
