Abstract
This paper offers a case history of a piled raft foundation supporting a 10-story residential building, height of 30.1 m. The building is adjacent to an 18-story building supported by pile foundation. The strain acts on piles, contact earth pressure between raft and soil, water pressure beneath the raft and the settlements at 1st floor or B1 floor were measured. From the long-term field monitoring, the load sharing between raft and piles was evaluated in order to validate the foundation design. The measured settlements of the floors were less than 10 mm and the differential settlements between two buildings are small. The ratio of the load carried by piles to the structure load was 0.64. It is confirmed that a piled raft works effectively in soft ground.
