Abstract

There is little reason to believe that the sources of instability on the world’s oceans will be alleviated in the coming decades. Instead, the global maritime security landscape is likely to become increasingly complex. New, unforeseen threats will arise and traditional threats will evolve, thereby continuously challenging the maritime security architectures of seafaring states around the world.
