Abstract
Diabetes is a major noncommunicable disease affecting millions in the developed and developing world. Conventional antidiabetic drugs control the glucose level in the blood but fail to reverse the ailment. Phenolic compounds are among the major group of phytochemicals that are extremely diverse in nature, ranging from flavonoids to polyphenolic amides and are found in several plants, fruits, spices, and herbs. Multiple mechanisms of actions of these can reverse diabetes complications effectively, individually as well as synergistically. This book is intended for natural product chemists, researchers/scientists involved in drug discovery, nutritionists, diabetologists, and those involved in alternate medicine as well as lay person.
