An Analysis of Water Pollution–Where Surface Water Can be Habitable Avoiding Most of the Major Disease Using Easy and Low Cost Water Filtration

Abstract

Most people use their habitable water from surface water. Surface water from lakes, wells, rivers or canals are the major source of habitable water in our country. In some cases underground water is also the resource, but due to over salinity at coastal belts, people use the deep-tube-well or shallow water. Rainwater harvesting is another process, but due to presence of bio-waste and pH level mismatch it is not suitable for habitation. Most of the disease break-outs are due to water contamination. The presence of various types of chemicals, bio-wastes, parasites, contaminate the source of water and create epidemics like dysentery, diarrhoea, gastro-enteritis, hepatitis, ulcers, typhoid and even cancer. Ignorance, lack of healthcare awareness, poverty and lack of timely medical help brings worry to the society life. Our work is to minimize the contamination and avoid the major source of diseases using a low-cost water filtering system irrespective of the source of water available. The technique is very simple and easily can be assembled at home and negligible maintenance expenses round the year, where there is no need of higher education, heavy engineering or laboratories. Only on providing some basic training even a lay-man can build it for their safety and can make society healthy. Most of the diseases can be avoided, and can save their hard-earned money and lives.
