Abstract
Focusing on Chinese subtitle translation in English language films, this book aims to identify the regularities in the subtitling process when semiotic interplay between the visual and the verbal modes is concerned. This chapter covers the following four aspects: research overview; essential features in subtitle translation; how to address subtitling theoretically; and writing trajectory.
