Abstract
This chapter examines the significance of financial resources to the quality of life for older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Although the economic vulnerability of older people from CALD backgrounds has been well documented in both domestic and international literature, there has been a lack of discussion about diverse types and sources of income for this group, and their implications for quality of life. This chapter presents the asset-building performance of older people from CALD backgrounds and the underlying challenges. It also explores how labour market disadvantage experienced at a younger age and unmet economic needs frame the economic life of older people from CALD backgrounds.
