Abstract

This chapter will apply the beam modeling method to develop a flexible robot, namely flexonic mobile node (FMN), which is capable of obstacle negotiation and data collection on complicated structures with the help of compliant beam deformations. The remainder of this chapter starts with the design concept of FMN and continues with simulated analysis for functionalities, then experimental validation and illustrative examples will be presented for structural health monitoring.
