Abstract

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of death around the world. Only a small percentage (5%) of cases of pulmonary tumors that are subjected to resection is needed to be removed en bloc with a part from the chest wall due to its involvement by the tumor. These patients are divided into two groups for historical and anatomical reasons, tumors involving and/or superior to the second rib (Pancoast), and tumors located inferior to the second rib. The issue of post-thoracotomy pain is increased after chest wall resection, especially after resections involving the paravertebral area, en bloc resection of the chest wall together with the lobe is the procedure of choice to achieve complete resection in lung cancer invading the chest wall relying on most of the series advocated that [1–3]. Surgical treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) invading the chest wall by extrapleural or “en bloc” resection is widely adopted and justified by the good results, in terms of morbidity and relief of pain. Survival always depends on the nodal status.
