Abstract
The issue of educational inequality has always been at the core of social gradation research, as the distribution of educational opportunities among the population greatly impacts the course of social gradation and, at the same time, distribution is an important measure of social equity. In any society, the distribution of educational opportunities is not absolutely fair, with some groups of people enjoying more opportunities than others. Family background and other social factors, such as race, ethnicity, gender, and immigrant status may all impact an individual’s educational opportunities. Scholars seek to answer questions such as, will inequalities remain unchanged?
