Abstract
Health inequity is a global concern that needs to be mitigated. Health inequity may be addressed through health advocacy, which is the act of championing for policy changes so that better health outcomes may result. The Health Communication Advocacy Tool is advanced as a structured approach that advocates may utilize to strategically and effectively conduct health advocacy. The tool consists of three phases: (1) assembling an advocacy team, (2) conducting formative research and designing advocacy messages, and (3) implementing and evaluating the team’s strategy. Given the pervasiveness of health inequity, it is imperative that more health advocacy efforts are initiated. The Health Communication Advocacy Tool offers advocates structure and confidence going forward in pursuing such efforts.
