Abstract

The strength of exports, a key driver of two thirds of Germany's economic growth, is in “content” rather than “size.” It is about selling technological innovations rather than consumer goods. Germany maintains strong economic growth by exporting “high-quality” products. These strong outputs come from good human capital, corporate innovation investment, and moderate wages.
