Abstract

The lack of dedicated national trauma registry in India and other Asian and African countries is the major hurdle in assessment of the exact incidence of paediatric trauma, its causes and its burden on the society in terms of morbidity and mortality. However, studies from few single tertiary care institutions have observed that trauma admissions constitute 10–20% of all paediatric admissions [1, 2], with almost 6–10% of children succumbing to their injuries.
