Abstract
The main components of NOSES IX include complete laparoscopic total colectomy, transanal specimen extraction, and side-to-end anastomosis between the ileum and rectum. From a technique point of view, total colectomy is one of the most difficult surgical procedures in colorectal cancer resection, because of the wide range of surgical resection, involving all technical difficulties regarding right hemicolectomy, left hemicolectomy, and rectal resection. NOSES IX has the added component of novel extraction, so familiarity and sound surgical principles are essential.
