Abstract
Long-term prospects for world energy development are based on the analysis of quantitative indices that describe the state of the art and provide a “benchmark” for our predictions, and also on the examination of past development trends Towards this end, Chapter 1 presents a short survey of principal statistical indicators of world energy development that are important for the present study.
