Abstract

The first observation of a double urethra is probably ascribable to Aristotle1. More precise indications are contained in publications of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Donatus (1586) and Hildanus (1646)2. For descriptions of cases from early autopsies we are indebted to the work of Schatz3.
