Bronchogenic cyst

Abstract

A bronchogenic cyst is a duplication of the primitive pulmonary primordium containing all of the histological characteristics of a bronchus. A duplication arising from the foregut prior to the development of the pulmonary primordium, or arising above or below the level from which this primordium develops, cannot be classified as a bronchogenic cyst, even though it may be lined with respiratory epithelium1–3.
