Influence of Processing on Thermal and Elastic Properties in Alumina Silicon Carbide Whisker Composites (+)

  • Chapter
4th International Symposium on Ceramic Materials and Components for Engines

Abstract

Measurements of thermal conductivity k and Young’s modulus E have been performed on a set of different alumina-SiC(w) composites, hot pressed at 1900 °C, obtained by varying hot-pressing time and raw materials. Moreover, the effect of processing on the k and E has been discussed showing the influence of raw material characteristics on thermal conductivity.
