Abstract
Alumina-zirconia composites were prepared by two different sol-gel routes: 1. mixing of two sols and 2, peptizing of alumina by zirconium-salt. Originaly different gel composite microstructures have great influence on the microstructural changes under heating. Transformation temperatures to alpha-alumina, t-zirconia and t — m are somewhat higher in the route 2 than in 1. Final alumina and zirconia grain size are higher too in the samples after the route 2 than 1.
