Abstract
A defect in a surface coating can be the result of any one of a number of causes and may therefore have a corresponding number of remedies. Also, several defects may occur simultaneously, further complicating the technologist’s task. This chapter classifies defects into broad groups, gives alphabetical listings of defects within each group, and provides relevant cross-references. The classifications are:
-
1.
Defects in the liquid paint
-
2.
Defects during application
-
3.
Defects during drying/curing
-
4.
Defects in the dry film
