Abstract

It has been previously shown that non-specific acute inflammatory reactions are able to modify the activity of lymphocytes and macrophages. In the present work we investigated whether such a reaction could interfere with the development of antibody responses. For this purpose, (C57B1/6xDBA/2)F1 mice were immunized with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) as a thymus dependent antigen or with TNP-LPS as a thymus-independent one, from 1 h to 5 days after the intrapleural injection of calcium pyrophosphate (CaPP) microcrystals or a dextran solution (MW 40 000).
